More about trunkey reseller

There’s an option if we don’t have much cash to put into starting a reseller hosting business get a free hosting reseller account.

We’ve signed up for an account , and its a pretty painless process. No setup fees or deposits are required to start using the reseller hosting solution.
But we can, if we want to, order a domain name for our new web hosting site at the same time.

The domain name is optional - we can start straight away without it. If we don’t have our own domain name, our website will be given an URL on their domain automatically.
We can also use an existing domain name if we already have one, we just need to change its nameservers to point to our new store and fill in the appropriate boxes on the setup form.

After the signup we will be provided with a web address that we can start using immediately. We can build our reseller website quickly using the control panel menu.

We’ve already given our store a name, but now we’ll want to customize it. The first thing to do is choose a template for our new web hosting site.

Resellers Panel offer us a choice of 16 templates - choose one we like as the basis for our site. We went with the recommended template

More about overselling the reselling

For those new to reseller hosting, overselling is the practice of selling more webspace/bandwidth than we’ve got, in the hope that none of our customers will ever use anything like their full allocation anyway.

The practice is common, not only in web hosting, but also in other industries - but is it an acceptable practice or a ripoff for customers?

We might think that there are only advantages for the web host or hosting reseller, but actually there are advantages for the customer too.

We’re starting out in reseller hosting with a 5Gb webspace/50Gb bandwidth hosting package and we want to entice our customers with a web hosting starter package that offers them 500Mb storage and 5Gb bandwith allocation.

hosting means after ywe’ve signed up 10 customers, we’ve run out of space and bandwidth - time to upgrade to a bigger package?

Take a look at the actual resources being used by our customers. Chances are none of them are using anything like their allocation of disc space or bandwidth.

Perhaps quite a few of companies are websites belonging to small businesses, either a limited number of static html pages, or maybe a small ecommerce site selling a few dozen products.

We know and we know that such a site does not usually need 500Mb webspace. One of my web design clients runs a successful online store selling their own brand of equine products.

Multiple domain in reseller

If we are looking for reseller hosting so we can host multiple domains, we’ve got a wide choice, not just of web hosting companies, but also the type of web hosting package we go for.

Many people choose a reseller hosting package just in order to host several of their own domains. In the past, this was the only option when we wanted to host many domains under one account, rather than buy seperate hosting for each of our own websites.
There are two main differences between reseller hosting and multi-domain hosting
The first is in the administration of the domains. With reseller hosting, we have a web hosting manager to add and manage domains, set disc space and quotas for each domain, etc.

Each domain then has its own control panel for administration of the domain setting up of email accounts, ftp, webmail, installing scripts and programs, checking visitor statistics etc.
Typically we have a seperate login to the control panel for each domain, although the “master” account may be able to log in to any of them.
With a multi-domain account, we typically do not have a web hosting manager. we only have one control panel and all administration is carried out from here.

All the administration for every website we have is carried out from the one control panel. For instance, if we have Fantastico on our hosting account, and we want to install, say, Wordpress, we click to install it and we can then browse to the domain we want it installed on.

Clearly, this is no good if we have a number of customers who each need to be able to use there own control panels, but if all the websites we are hosting are our own, it can be easier to administer them all from a single control panel

More about choosing right reseller package

The right web hosting reseller package for we will depend on what we want from our reseller host, and what kind of web hosting reseller we aim to be.

Reseller packages are available to meet differing needs some provide us with a turnkey solution for setting up a standalone business in reseller hosting, while others provide us with the hosting and allow us to integrate our own billing system.

Are we a web designer who wants to be able to host our customers websites? In that case, customer billing management and templates to build a hosting website may be of little interest.
Its likely that the cost of the hosting will be included in the bill for our services. we may not want other people to host their own websites with we, so there is no need for a standalone web hosting sales site.

If on the other hand, we are looking for reseller hosting to start our own web hosting business.

the amount of support given to us to enable enable us to convert visitors to customers will affect our choice.

Some hosting companies provide us with a reseller account only, and leave the arrangements for selling and billing up to us.

Some others provide us with the tools to allow visitors to signup from our website, pay us with their credit card and automatically have their account created within minutes.

Unlesswe already have a suitable sales site, or the expertise to create one, we are probably better off with this kind of reseller package.

Small business reseller hosting

Outsourcing has gained popularity over the last few years as companies around the globe have turned to outside experts to deploy sound technology strategies.

Once reserved for larger companies, outsourcing is now viewed as a cost effective alternative to in house solutions for companies of all sizes.

As the trend toward outsourcing moves into the SMB market, small companies are learning to leverage technology to streamline business operations and automate their business processes to create bigger efficiencies.

One of the main reasons that SMBs are increasing their use of outsourcing services is to help lift the burden from already taxed IT staff. According to The Yankee Group.

One of the fastest growing segments of SMB outsourcing is that of Web hosting. A growing percentage of companies are turning to outsourced Web hosting solutions to ensure that their Web site is secure, reliable.

The SMB market is an important market segment in today ís economy and is expected to grow significantly over the next three to five years.

The demand for more complex Web site functionality, ever escalating costs and greater outsourcing benefits will further spur outsourced hosting among SMBs.

The bottom line As SMBs evaluate the shift to an outsourced Web hosting model, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is often viewed as a major benefit of outsourcing. For SMBs, establishing their own hosting capabilities internally often is a larger investment than outsourcing.

The TCO of self-managing a Web site is generally higher due to the costs of an in-house IT staff whose primary responsibility is to manage the Web site. In addition, TCO also factors in the equipment, software, and initial set up costs, as well as the periodic upgrading of equipment, 24/7 help desk services and around-the clock monitoring and management.

A reduction in capital expenditures is a key consideration for any business. By leveraging a Web hosting providerís data center infrastructure, network and expertise, companies can expect a 25 to 80 percent cost savings over in house solutions.

More about reseller demystified

Web hosting can essentially be placed into three categories.
1. Shared or virtual
2. Reseller
3. Dedicated

The most common is shared, where we have an account with a hosting company to whom we pay a monthly or yearly fee, in exchange for a pre-determined amount of space, bandwidth and a few extra's like PHP or ASP support , and CGI etc.
Often, each shared hosting account allows us to host one domain at a time, with a single control panel and that's pretty much it.

Most of the time, that's all people require, and so the need for lot of types of hosting environments will always exist.
Often, when a host is first starting out, they won't have enough capital to afford their own server, and sometimes they don't have the time to commit to server maintenance as well as trying to market and grow their new Web venture.

Websites need to be hosted on a server somewhere, but if the company offering the hosting services is in this situation, how can company offer competitive hosting packages without the increased expense of buying or renting their own server?

Reseller hosting is where a Web host buys a bulk plan from the reseller hosting company, and then subdivides that plan into smaller pieces to on sell or resell to individual users.

The reseller host provides large scale hosting packages where, for a fixed cost, substantial packages of space and bandwidth are made available, together with the ability to host bulk domain names.

The individual Web host can then concentrate on providing packages and plans to attract customers, without having to own, manage and maintain their own server.

About unbrand reselling with use of reseller account

When a reseller host says they offer unbranded reseller plans ,it simply means they provide their Web hosting services to their customers in such a way that it appears they do not exist.
How resells works is that the reseller host uses an ambiguous domain as the primary name for their servers they choose not to brand that domain with their own logo or name.
Using own logo or name allows the smaller hosting on seller to tell their clients that the server and associated domain name belong to them. This gives the impression that the on seller is somewhat larger than it actually is, and that it owns and controls its own servers.

Many Web hosting companies are in fact reselling the server space and bandwidth of another company.

Using a Reseller Hosting, Dedicated Hosting, Shared Hosting plans - CPWebHosting is an extremely effective way to break into the Web hosting industry, as it generally entails a reasonable monthly cost without the worries of server management, maintenance, and dealing with data centres.
It's essentially a stepping stone for new and small Web hosts, initially allowing them to provide hosting services and then, when we've outgrown their reseller hosting, they can easily move on to their own semi dedicated or dedicated server.

Reseller hosts are useful for the following type of people:

Start up Web hosts
Web hosting companies that need to expand, but are not ready for a dedicated server

Individuals with medium sized forums, who need a larger than average amount of bandwidth and disk space is useful for reseller users.
Individuals, who have multiple, or bulk, domain names and are looking to host all their domains under the one plan, rather than having multiple hosting accounts.

Individuals with a popular domain that needs bandwidth limits in excess of those imposed by many smaller Web hosts.
